For nearly 60 years, Short Term Emergency Aid Committee (STEAC) has been helping Yolo County families and individuals navigate life's hardest moments by providing immediate support for basic needs including food, housing assistance, utility support, transportation, educational opportunities, and emergency financial assistance. But STEAC is more than emergency aid — we are neighbors helping neighbors. Through the generosity of our community, we work to ensure that families experiencing hardship have the resources they need not only to get through today, but to build stability for tomorrow. In the past year alone, STEAC has: Provided 112,867 meals to families experiencing food insecurityDistributed over 16,000 weekend food packs to local children so they wouldn't go hungry when school meals weren't availableHelped families stay housed through critical rent and utility assistanceAwarded 20 education scholarships to local community college students, helping remove barriers to long-term independenceSupported residents with transportation assistance, job certifications, legal documents, clothing assistance, and other essentials needed to regain stabilityWhen our community comes together, we create something powerful: hope, dignity, and opportunity for our neighbors when they need it most.
